Bio: Tanya J. D’Avanzo, PhD, ABPP-Cn is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist. She attained a B.S.
degree in biopsychology with a minor in dance from Tufts University and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology
with a focus in neuropsychology from the SDSU/UCSD Joint Doctoral Program. She completed a clinical
internship at the VA Medical Center in Honolulu and a postdoctoral residency in neuropsychology at the
Queen’s Medical Center. In 2001, she was board-certified by the American Board of Professional
Psychology in her specialty area of practice (neuropsychology). Dr. D’Avanzo served as President of the
Hawaii Psychological Association and received HPA’s distinguished service award. She currently serves as
president of the National Academy of Neuropsychology Foundation, and she is a fellow of NAN. Dr.
D’Avanzo has a private practice focusing on clinical and forensic assessment. She has taught and
supervised others at the pre- and post-doctoral level, and she serves as a mentor for those attempting
to get boarded through ABPP. She was a writer for the most current version of the written portion of the
board exam in clinical neuropsychology. Outside of the professional sphere, she is a mother of twins and
2 cats. Dr. D’Avanzo is an active visual artist and Dean of the Awesome Foundation of Oahu, a grassroots
philanthropy group.
