Pacifica Graduate Institute
Oksana Yakushko, PhD is a licensed psychologist and professor of clinical psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her research has focused on issues related to migration, gender, and multicultural psychology. Her recent scholarship has shifted to studying the impact of eugenics as a form of ideological sciences in past and present day psychology, especially in relation to scientific racism, scientific sexism and other science-driven forms of prejudice. In addition, she examines varied forms of resistance to ideologies, both within the broader culture and the academic community. She is an author of over 60 peer reviewed articles and book chapters, and two books. Her upcoming book on eugenics and American psychology uses anti-colonial critique of these sciences by scholars like Frantz Fanon who termed these "shameful sciences!" Dr. Yakushko is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, and a Board member of Division 39, Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology, APA. In 2021 she received top leadership award from Committee on Women in Psychology, APA for her work on issues of human trafficking, sexual violence, and colonialism.
