Hawai'i Pacific University School of Social Work

The College of Health and Society (CHS) at Hawai’i Pacific University (HPU) is an innovator in discipline-specific and inter-professional educational experiences in the classroom, laboratory, and community. Through instruction, applied research, and collaborative global community engagement, CHS (which includes the School of Social Work) fosters a diverse community of globally-focused professionals in the practice of nursing, public health, social work, and physical therapy.

Social worker students at HPU are taught to use their skills to empower others to help themselves and change often unresponsive social systems. The HPU Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program helps students to develop the necessary knowledge, values, and skills to help "make the world a better place." The HPU Master of Social Work (MSW) program provides the knowledge, values, and skills needed for advanced practice and leadership; preparing graduates to become advanced generalists with a focus on culturally competent practice. Both BSW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.

HPU is an international learning community and students from around the world are enrolled for an American education built on liberal arts foundation. Since 1973, HPU is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC); and through the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
